Fusion Food Fortune Teller Party

February 26, 2021

Who doesn’t love Fortune Tellers or Cootie Catchers? They are as much fun to make as they are to play and they are versatile as travel games, education games, party games and maybe even little add-ons for party favors! And, depending on the content, they can entertain older and younger kids just as easily!

So, we utilized this much-loved craft/game in the Indo-American context and created this fortune teller that can be used to begin a fusion cooking event at home or a unique kid’s cooking party. The fortune teller was a family effort and consists of our favorite creations – so you can try out these combinations knowing they have been tried, tested and loved well!

How to Set-up the Event:

The combinations that can be created fall into an appetizer, main course and dessert categories. But you can have more regular additions for each category and create your own expanded menu. Remember to keep all the ingredients for the regular way of making something as well as in the fusion way. It’s only if your ‘fortune’ dictates that you get to eat it or serve it in a fusion way!

To Print

Print out enough copies of the Fortune Teller Game for all the members of the family(if it’s a family event) or for all the kids (if it’s a Cooking Party).

Setting up the Event

As this is more of a ‘combining food’ party than an actual ‘cooking food’ party, you can have just one big table with all the ingredients laid out with labels, instead of separate food stations. Cover the tables with a protective covering. Take turns to use the fortune teller to start combining foods and getting everyone to taste the combinations. Use a rating system to rate the most loved food combination in the fortune teller and recreate it with your own variations of food and the fortune teller for the next time.

Have fun and share your creations!
